Submerged is inspired by Harriet Barts's Exhibit: Abracadabra and Other Forms of Protection. This piece is focused on the category of Protection-Found Objects: Transforming. The concept is in relation to the unconscious state of the mind referred to as dreaming. Dreams can be a way for the mind to warn oneself about issues going on in one’s conscious life; a subconscious form of protection. In relation to my design, I focused on not being able to speak in dreams. This represents feelings of not being heard or valued in conscious life, as well as troubles expressing oneself.
